Taylor let out a low, pleased chuckle, his tone lighter. "Do you really mind Beth's presence that much?" Natalie responded nonchalantly, "Why should I?" "You're afraid she'll snatch me away from you." The statement was absurd, and Natalie laughed coldly. "I'm quite curious. Where do you get that kind of confidence?" His tone lifted slightly. "Am I wrong?" "Absolutely." "Then why bring Beth up out of nowhere?" Natalie directed her gaze at his profile. "Because you prefer Ms. Powel over me. You care more about her feelings. "So naturally, she should be the first one you want to share things with. Is that hard to understand?" "That's just your perception." "There's no need to deny it. Denying facts doesn't change them. "Even now, you're being nice to me and trying to please me because you're interested in my body. I could even say that you already had plans for tonight when you decided to invite me to dinner."
