Taylor's gaze was dark and brooding.
Ethan glanced at Natalie. "Sorry, I have a few things to take care of, so I'll be on my way."
"Take care, Dr. Orlen."
"Goodbye." With that, he turned and walked away.
Natalie watched him go, then casually shifted her attention back to her meal. She ate slowly, as if Taylor didn't even exist.
Feeling completely ignored, Taylor turned back to her with a mix of confusion and anger. "What were you and Ethan doing today?"
Natalie continued to eat and replied indifferently, "Didn't you see?"
"Don't tell me you were on a blind date?"
"Close enough."
She spoke with an air of nonchalance, but her words ignited a simmering anger in Taylor that he struggled to contain. His dark eyes remained fixed on her as he fell silent.
While Natalie ate, he stood beside her.
Eventually, she lost her appetite and decided to pay the bill, only to learn from the cashier that Ethan had already settled it.
