Melissa smiled and changed the topic. "Nat, let's get in the car first."
"Okay," Natalie replied as she got into the car. She sat in the back seat, while Nathan drove and Melissa took the front seats. The car moved smoothly along the road.
Through the window, Natalie watched the city outside. Everything seemed so unfamiliar yet inexplicably familiar.
"Nat, how have you been abroad these past three years?" Melissa's voice interrupted her thoughts.
Natalie looked at her. Melissa, seated in the passenger seat, turned around with a concerned look in her eyes.
She smiled gently. "I've been doing well, Mel."
Melissa nodded. "If your dad hadn't gotten sick, would you have stayed abroad a bit longer?"
"I might have come back after finishing the last trust case, but it's good to come back early. After being away for three years, I miss Mom and Dad."
"Every year, Nathan and I would take them for their check-ups. I don't know why your dad was suddenly diagnosed with kidney failure."
