Half an hour later, the car stopped outside the state court.
Natalie unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out when she heard a click—the doors were locked.
She turned to Taylor seated in the driver's seat. "What are you doing?"
He met her gaze and countered with a question, "What are your plans after the divorce?"
"I don't have any plans," she replied dismissively.
Natalie didn't see the point in discussing her future with a man who was about to become her ex-husband.
Taylor asked again, "Are you planning to find a boyfriend soon?"
Natalie scoffed and replied, "In your eyes, do divorced women have nothing else to do but find boyfriends and date?"
"I'm just concerned about you."
"There's no need for that. After the divorce, we'll have nothing to do with each other. You can go care about the person you've always wanted to but never dared to openly show concern for."
