Even so, Natalie silently prayed that Samuel wouldn't be like Taylor. She hoped he would at least treat his wife well. Even if he didn't love his wife, he shouldn't try to hurt her.
Taylor narrowed his eyes at her. "You seem agitated, Nat."
Natalie forced a smile. "You're mistaken."
She stood up from the sofa and said, "Dinner should be ready, so let's eat. I'm hungry."
"Okay."
He wrapped his arm around her waist and led her to the dining room. "Isn't your brother on break yet? Why don't you invite him over for dinner?"
"He said he wouldn't get a break until the New Year."
"Alright, let's have dinner together during the New Year instead, then."
Natalie merely hummed in acknowledgment.
Taylor studied her impassive face before mentioning, "I've brought the card you gave Thomas back with me. I'll hand it to you later."
Natalie glanced at him. "You can keep it. We shouldn't make our finances too complicated with our current relationship."
