CHAPTER 6: HEARTFELT FURY
Shirley stood at the doorway with her heart pounding heavily; it felt like something was blocking her heart from beating normally. As if the door felt her presence, too, or it could be because she was resting a part of her body on it, it opened more, exposing what was happening.
The lady was bent over the table with her hands on the office table. She was scantily dressed while Drakon stood behind her with his trousers down. No one said anything, but the silence and tension in the air could be sliced through with a knife at that moment.
Shirley took the bold step of walking away without saying a word. She continued walking to where she was going as though she didn't just see her mate having sex with someone with the door open. She didn't know if she should be angry or pretend she didn't see anything, even though her mind was like a tornado.
It was one thing to frolic around with females; he already made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with her, and she got that fine, but it's another thing to be engaged in fornication under her nose!
She waited impatiently till food was brought to her after sitting down. She badly wanted to discard the stupid tradition of always eating with him, but she knew she had to do this with caution.
What she wanted to do the most was to get out of the goddess-forsaken Pack, but it seemed fate hated her so much. She couldn't run away successfully without proper planning, or else she might be killed.
She had just taken the second bite when she heard the chair opposite her scraping as it was dragged. Drakon sat on it; he only spared her a glance before digging into his food.
Shirley was so mad that when the fork in her hand bent and the sharp edges dug painfully into her skin, she knew she was squeezing the poor object.
She dropped it and decided to focus on what was making her angry.
"So, you think you can just do what you did in there and come here to eat like nothing happened?"
There was pin-drop silence between them after she said that. Drakon was taken aback that he had just been talked to that way; she appeared to him like someone calm and wouldn't do anything if offended.
“Are you talking to me?" He just had to ask.
"It's just the two of us here, right?" She asked him back, further shocking him.
"Are you seriously questioning my actions? Do I owe you any explanation? Have you forgotten your place so soon, or do I need to remind you that-”?
"I'm just someone the moon goddess made a mistake pairing you with. I'm weak to be your Luna, and you'd never love me." She completed it for him.
"And you could reject me if you wanted, and I'd be the only one who feels the pain." She added.
"Well, newsflash. I don't give a flying f*ck about what you do with your life; as long as you also stay out of my way, I'll do the same to you."
"I won't tolerate disrespecting you because you think my opinions don't matter. It wouldn't have taken you up to ten seconds to lock the door, but no. The only thing you were thinking about was the goddamn pleasure you'd get from the fornication and nothing more." She rasped.
She had stood up sometime in the middle of talking and was breathing heavily with how mad she was.
"It's not fornication with the one I love.” He corrected her.
"It is fornication as long as it is outside wedlock." She countered.
"And seriously, was that the only thing you picked from everything I said?" She asked with an angry and frustrated look on her face.
Drakon moved closer to her; his height and body built her petite form, like a giant standing before a dwarf.
"No, the other thing I picked from what you just said is that you wish you were the one I was f*caking and not her." His mouth was directly beside her ear; he had to lean over her a little so she inhaled his scent.
Though she didn't have a wolf that was supposed to point out and be obsessed with his scent, she still found it appealing; it just made her want to draw him closer and hug him all day, even though she was mad at him.
“Aww, I'd rather drink water from the toilet directly than let you copulate with me with your jewels that have been in the body of almost every lady in this pack." She cringed.
Drakon was again shocked. He didn't know she could talk this way, and he didn't like being spoken to that way, not by her or anyone else.
"Who do you think you are to talk to me that way? Where did the scared little girl I saw days ago fly to?"
"She's still here; she just wouldn't take it when anyone takes her for granted, including you, alpha Drakon."
She glared at him once more before walking away from the dining room. All the traces of hunger she felt disappeared after confronting him.
She was ridiculed and looked down on all her life, but this one tops it all.
Just when Shirley thought she could go outside to get some fresh air, she was dragged back by the wrist by none other than her mate.
"You need to apologize to my girlfriend for barging in on us that way; she was mad and left angrily."
"Are you f*caking out of your mind? You want me to do what?”
"Apologize to her.”
"Let me go, you dimwit!” She twisted her wrist out of his hold and ran off with tears in her eyes.
