Evelyn once had a close friend, but after leaving the orphanage, they lost contact and never saw each other again. If that friend had grown up, she might have looked a lot like Ashley.
Before Evelyn could dwell on the thought any longer, Ashley appeared with freshly brewed coffee.
"Hello, this is the hand-dripped coffee you ordered," Ashley said with a warm smile, her small canine teeth peeking out and dimples forming on her round cheeks.
Evelyn slowly stood and extended her hand. "Hi, I'm Evelyn Sinclair."
Only God knew how she was struggling to suppress the warmth and emotions bubbling inside her.
Ashley paused for a moment before returning the smile and shaking her hand. "Ashley Hayes."
As their hands met, Ashley's eyes flickered with recognition. "Have we met before?" she asked.
