Chapter 227
"Mr. Newton, you're here," one of the housekeepers greeted Chandler respectfully. Chandler nodded slightly and said, "I'm here to see the stones. Is Mr. Cadman here today?"
The housekeeper replied, "He's in the backyard, where the stones are kept. I'll take you there."
So, Helen and Chandler followed the housekeeper through the garden to the backyard. Upon arrival, the usually quiet estate buzzed with activity. Many people were gathered around a pile of stones, carefully examining and selecting them.
"This stone looks good, Mr. Cadman. What's your price?" someone asked.
Thomas Cadman responded with a smile, "This piece isn't worth much. If you like it, let's say half a million."
The buyer was pleased. "Deal! Could you also arrange a craftsman to cut it open for me?"
Thomas nodded. "Please make the payment. I'll arrange a skilled craftsman to cut the stone for you."
After seeing the customer off, Thomas approached Chandler and Helen. "Mr. Newton, welcome. And who might this be?"
