They didn't understand why Logan had to lie to Lorraine. They wondered if Lorraine would really leave them if Logan didn't do so.
The adult world was just too complicated for them.
"Are you guys hungry?"
Lorraine asked as she drove.
"I have some pastries here. If you're hungry, you can have them to tide you over first. We need to go to the supermarket to buy some groceries before we can cook dinner. So, it might take a while before we can eat."
She reached for the two boxes of pastries on the passenger seat and handed them to the kids.
Luna eagerly took the bag.
"It's from Moonlight Pastries."
Finnegan said when he saw the box.
Lorraine smiled. "Finn, you can read the label?"
"Dad teaches us to read. We know many words. Mom, let me tell you, Luna and I know the most words in our class. The teacher always praises us."
Luna, the more talkative of the two, loved sharing happy moments with Lorraine.
