The castle was enormous, and after a few corridors, Elis began to lose her sense of direction.
She followed Charles inside and, after ascending several staircases, he opened a door to a room. Charles entered first, and Elis followed him in.
The room was a bedroom—much larger than a typical one. It was decorated in dark tones, resembling the dark castles from fairy tales. Yet, it wasn't eerie at all. Each decorative piece exuded a tastefully understated grandeur.
Elis' eyes were drawn immediately to the large bed in the center of the room. She chuckled lightly and looked at Charles. "Mr. Stewart, going for the high-end treatment, are we?"
Charles didn't respond to her comment but said, "From now on, you'll be staying here."
Elis looked down, puzzled. "Staying here? What does that mean?"
"It means you're my woman," Charles said, coming closer. He took her hand, his tone coaxing. "Since you're back, don't leave again."
Elis smiled. "Have you decided to marry me?"
"No."
