Steven realized that he no longer hated her. The night passed. Marrie was awakened by her phone ringing. When she checked it, she was surprised to find out that she had slept till 10:00 am. She had never slept in this late. Although Marrie was ruthless and domineering, she was a very insecure woman. It was connected to what had happened to her in the past. When she was 15 years old, someone powerful molested her. She eventually managed to get away from them. Yet, this experience haunted her. That was why she had done whatever she could to climb the ranks, protecting herself with status and money. It was the only way she could feel safe. She had always woken up terrified from her nightmares. Her nights were never restful. However, last night, she had the most peaceful sleep she had ever had in 20 years. While she was half-asleep, she felt a firm and warm embrace protecting her, filling her with a sense of security. It dawned on Marrie that she had been sleeping in Steven's arms
