After a demanding week at work, yet another Friday afternoon had rolled around, and I eagerly made my way to Alec's office. He had summoned me to meet him there and had even sent the driver to pick me up. I knew this could mean only one thing: a date night. I was eagerly anticipating it and had taken the time to change my outfit, touch up my makeup, and redo my hair. We deserved this break.
When the car came to a stop, the driver courteously opened the door for me, and I made my way to Alec's office. I had only been there a handful of times, and each visit left me impressed. The view of the skyline, the opulent decor—it all served as a reminder that Alec had achieved immense success. He had surpassed me in the game of life, but he never once flaunted it in my face. It was me who had been obsessed with keeping score, but that was a thing of the past. Together, we were better than when we were pitted against each other.
