Melanie returned to the apartment to pack her things. She even left Yale a note telling him where the food was and stuck the note on the fridge. Then, she headed straight to the hospital.
Melanie's grandmother, Edith, was having her surgery in a neighboring city as the hospital in their town was not equipped to perform this operation.

"Don't move." Melanie held her back down. "Go and do the surgery. Don't be afraid. I'll be waiting for you outside."
