Chapter 8 A Disaster PART 1

Cordelia arrived at the Radcliffe Group and went to the human resources department to check in. The manager assigned her to the marketing department. "Make sure you three work well in the marketing department and participate in the assessments. It decides whether you will stay here." the manager warned. Cordelia blinked curiously. "If we don't perform well, we will be fired?" The manager replied without much patience, "Of course, don't tell me that you're Mr. Radcliffe's relative?" As all three were newcomers, they introduced themselves. A woman with long hair and heavy makeup introduced herself as Scarlett Moore, and the one with short hair and glasses was Mia Taylor. "I'll let you in on a little secret. I have connections here." Scarlett said with a haughty attitude, "If you want to stay, you better listen to me." Cordelia snorted. She didn't plan on staying anyway. The marketing department leader came over to assign tasks to the three. They were all challenging and thankless jobs. "Cordelia, go to the freezer and confirm the quantity of this batch of products," the leader instructed. Cordelia took the documents and headed to the freezer on the first floor. Inside, there were several large shelves, and she had to climb a ladder to see the items on the higher shelves. Fortunately, Cordelia only needed to count the items on the lower shelves. She habitually put on her headphones, hummed a tune, and began counting. The freezer was extremely cold, and after quickly completing the count, as she was about to leave, she thought she heard something. Due to her headphones, she couldn't quite make out the sound. She turned around, scanning the entire freezer. There was nothing but the chilly air. Could there be someone suspicious here? Praying silently, Cordelia hurriedly ran out, locking the door behind her. At that moment, Benedict, who was checking a batch of precious caviar on the innermost shelf, furrowed his brows slightly as he turned to look around. There was no one nearby. After verifying the goods, when he was ready to leave, he found the freezer door locked. Benedict's face darkened, his anger like a spreading flame. What was going on? Who suddenly locked the door? On the other side, Cordelia, seeing that it was still early, casually went to the cake shop next to the company to enjoy some pastries and juice, followed by some gaming. After playing for half an hour, Cordelia checked the time and paid the bill before returning to the company. As soon as Cordelia entered the office, the manager of the marketing department, Amelia Wilson, grabbed her and shouted, "Cordelia, where did you go? Quickly hand over the key to the freezer." Cordelia's head was shaking like a drum under Amelia's shaking. "I was just checking the inventory. What's wrong?" Scarlett gloated on the side. "You locked Mr. Radcliffe in the freezer for half an hour. He might have lost his life." Cordelia widened her eyes, and her heart almost stopped. What! The voice in the freezer just now was Benedict! "Oh my God, I have to go save him!" Cordelia pushed Amelia away and ran toward the freezer, putting all her effort into it as if she were in a sprint competition. Upon reaching the freezer, she saw several people already using tools to open the door. Cordelia took out the key to open the door, rushed inside, and saw Benedict's cold face covered in frost. His sharp features looked even colder, and his narrow eyes were like ancient glaciers, staring at her with intense coldness. "Benedict, are you okay? What happened? Can you still breathe?" Cordelia, looking at Benedict radiating a piercing chill, was scared to the point where tears were about to burst. "I didn't mean it. I didn't know you were inside. Say something, please?" Cordelia's tender hand lightly patted Benedict's face, bringing a warm touch. Benedict's entire body felt like it was about to freeze. His cold face tightened even more. His thick, dark eyelashes slightly lowered, and Cordelia, without any makeup, appeared delicate as a freshly bloomed flower, pretty and adorable, making it hard to look away. In her dewy eyes, there was an undisguised worry. "Benedict, say something. Don't scare me!"
