Benedict's pupils contracted as he looked at her with an incredulous gaze. Cordelia was being coy with him?
Was she out of her mind?
He tightened his jawline, his voice stern. "Get up yourself."
Cordelia glanced at Maisie, her face darkening with frustration. Feeling even more pleased with herself, Cordelia insisted. "Nope. My legs are sore. Carry me. Won't you?"
"Cordelia, Benedict's been working hard lately. You should cut him some slack." Maisie couldn't hold back, her eyes flashing with anger, but only Cordelia could see it.
Ignoring Maisie's words, Cordelia focused on Benedict, pressing him further. "If you don't carry me, I won't budge."
She was acting like a stubborn child, crossing her arms and deliberately avoiding eye contact.
Benedict strode over and effortlessly scooped her up from the couch. She was so petite. It was an easy lift.
Cordelia casted a smug smile at Maisie and saw her face grew even darker as if smeared with ink, her eyes almost bulging out.
