Cordelia reached for her phone, but Benedict's grip on her wrist was firm, his strength palpable. "Did you not hear what I said earlier?"
"You said I couldn't see him, not that I couldn't take his call."
She snatched the phone away and answered. Thomas's deep voice came through the line.
"Cordelia, there's been an issue with the online hub. Can you come to the studio and take care of it? It's completely non-functional right now."
Cordelia gripped the phone tightly and felt an invisible weight pressing down on her, leaving her unsure of how to respond.
"I'll call you back in a bit."
There was a pause on the other end as if realizing the situation just then.
Thomas's voice took on a hint of anger. "He's not letting you leave, is he?"
Cordelia's fingertips went pale. Even though Benedict had valid reasons for his demands, she still felt oppressed as if she were tightly bound by an invisible rope.
