Chapter 74: Maria Confronts Sarkon
Sarkon exhaled and stood.
"Where are you going?" Betty came to a hasty stand.
The beast glowered at the beautiful lady who was the dream of half the men in Lenmont - and had slept with half of them.
"Miss Loller," his deep voice began in a low snarl. "I believe I have seen enough. Or in this case, I have not seen anything and I am done. Goodbye."
Betty glared at the untouched pastries and cold tea with pure jealousy and sheer desperation. Gripping her fists, she lifted her nose like a proud peacock and said loud and clear, "Why do you think my brother hasn't showed up?"
That caught the beast's attention.
Betty grinned victoriously. She stepped forward. "I'm sure you've heard a lot about my brother. He has his unique ways of handling things. We are going against a formidable opponent here; surely that deserves a bit more of your time?"
Sarkon stared at the elevator door. His mind was churning furiously.
