Cameron had been avoiding me for days. At first, I was relieved. After everything that had happened—the arguments, the failed escapes, and the constant tension between us—I thought I wanted distance from him. But now, I wasn’t so sure.
He wasn’t just avoiding me; it was as if I didn’t exist. Whenever I passed him in the hallways or saw him in the training grounds, he wouldn’t spare me a single glance. It was strange. I expected him to be angry after the last incident, but instead, he gave me freedom. He didn’t order the guards to follow me anymore, and he didn’t come to check if I was behaving.
And for some reason, it made me restless.
I spent most of my time wandering around the packhouse, unsure of what to do with myself. The celebration had ended days ago, but the pack was still buzzing with energy.
