Evelyn couldn't quite describe her feelings. It wasn't a disappointment. In fact, it felt more like an irony.
But now that she thought about it, it made sense. How could Lucas possibly deny the woman he loved a proper title?
Blake led her outside the restaurant to the parking lot.
She immediately broke free from his grip and calmly asked, "What do you have to say for yourself?"
He leaned against the car door. He understood that she must be furious right now.
The people who already betrayed her were her father, husband, and stepsister. And now… Blake?
Still, he knew that he stood above all of those people in Evelyn's heart. She would still listen to what he had to say.
"You knew Lucas wouldn't want anything to do with Lily," Blake said as he lit a cigarette. "Everyone can tell how much he cares about Tiffany."
