Nova hung up the phone, letting out a sigh.
Their lukewarm relationship was just right for them, but why then did she feel a bit sad inside?
They shouldn't be like this, yet it seems they can only be this way.
"Ivy, your dad's on a business trip. He asked me to drop you off with Cooper, and he'll take you to your mom," Nova explained.
Ivy's face fell slightly, but she nodded obediently, clutching her iPad and heading out.
After Nova handed Ivy over to Cooper, she climbed the stairs back to her now quiet house.
The silence felt strangely unsettling.
