CHAPTER SIXTY THREE – HER FRIEND RETURNS
As the night deepened, the pack began to settle in for some much-needed rest. Laura found herself unable to sleep, her mind too full of the day's events.
She wandered to the edge of the compound, looking out at the forest beyond. The moon hung low and full in the sky, casting everything in a silvery glow.
"Couldn't sleep?" a voice asked behind her. She turned to see Leah approaching.
Laura shook her head. "Too much to process, I guess."
Leah nodded, coming to stand beside her. "I know what you mean. Everything's changed so quickly."
They stood in silence for a while, each lost in their own thoughts. Finally, Leah spoke again.
"You know, when you first came here, I thought Logan was crazy for bringing a human into the pack," she admitted. "But now... I can't imagine this place without you."
Laura felt a lump form in her throat. "Thanks, Leah. That means a lot."
