Upon Sally's revelation, Zoe finally noticed the blood on the knife had taken a black hue.
Scared out of her wits, Zoe grabbed Chris, shaking him like a rag doll, "Why, Chris? Why hurt someone who's been nothing but good to us?"
Cool as a cucumber, Sally pulled out a handkerchief and used it to pick up the tainted switchblade. "Chris isn't smart enough to poison a knife," she told Zoe.
Sally was known for her quirkiness. But if she were truly a dud, Stacey wouldn't have kept her around.
The lady had shown time and again that she could be savage and smart when the chips were down.
Tears flooding her cheeks, Zoe made a promise, "I'll get to the bottom of this and explain everything to Boss."
Sally walked off, and Vivian was alone on a distant balcony.
She'd been watching but hadn't heard a word.
Seeing Sally with the knife gave her goosebumps. "Everything should be fine," she told herself, "I cleaned off all fingerprints. They can't pin this on me."
