Chapter 24
Hearing my words, Abigail's face darkened noticeably.
She glared at me, her voice harshed. "Samuel, don't push your luck! The fact that I even bothered to bring you food should be enough. Who are you to sit here picking and choosing?"
I closed the lid on the food container in front of me.
Looking at her calmly, I said, "Abigail, the doctor specifically said I can't have heavy, oily, or salty foods, and I definitely can't eat seafood. And…"
I glanced at the box of freshly cut mango, giving a bitter smile. "I'm allergic to mango. Didn't you know that?"
As soon as I said it, her expression shifted sharply.
It was clear she hadn't expected this. Every single item she'd brought happened to be something I couldn't eat.
Her face flushed, and she demanded irritably, "How was I supposed to know that? You never told me!"
She was right. I hadn't directly told her I was allergic to mango.
Back when we were together, she loved mangoes. I'd buy them for her often and even peel them by hand.
