I was glaring at David. He averted his gaze and continued to drink his liquor. Everyone was celebrating the engagement but me.
"I want to leave now," I demanded. David sucked in a breath.
"I know you're mad about the surprise engagement," he said. He didn't fucking know just how upset I was. I was fucking pissed. I could hit him right now. I couldn't believe David did this to me. He tricked me!
"I'll talk to my father for a few minutes, and we'll leave," he told me, trying to kiss my lips. I could smell the liquor on his breath. I pulled my head away from him. I didn't say a word. I turned and went to the hallway for some privacy. I glared at the engagement ring on my finger. The desire to remove it and throw it was swirling around me, but I needed to act cautiously about his mother's health.
Ten minutes later, we left the house. I couldn't pretend to be pleasant when I was fuming!
