We quietly left the plaza.
After going back to the store with Allen to hand over the money for the goods, we started to slowly walk home.
At his door, Allen bowed in thanks to us saying, "Thank you two so much for today."
I smiled. "Don't mention it."
Chris said as well, "It was nothing for us."
At that moment, the old wooden door was pushed open.
Lena peeked out, asking, "Jasmine, Mr. Chris! Do you want to stay for dinner?"
Chris and I exchanged a look before we shook our heads.
The two of them were not in a good situation in the first place. They might have to starve for a few days just to accommodate us.
"We'll take you up on that offer when your living situation is better in the future," I said to them.
Allen had an embarrassed look on his face. Naturally, he knew how his family's situation was, so he did not insist, merely nodding and saying, "Alright, it's a promise then. We'll definitely pay you back in the future!"
He made an earnest promise.
