Baron himself looked ragged. He had fought hard; his body was mostly covered in blood. But she knew he was strong—very strong—and she appreciated that. But it didn’t comfort her. It was sad, but that was the reality.
“Morgana,” he greeted, his voice rough from shouting orders. “What’s wrong? Why are you not at the front?”
“Something’s wrong with them, Baron,” she said urgently, grabbing his arm. “These wildlings—there’s something off about them.”
He frowned, glancing back at the frenzied battle. “I did tell you, didn’t I?” He shook his head, rubbing at his bloodied face. “But that doesn't seem to be the matter. What does it? I do remember telling you that they were bigger than I remembered. Faster, and they seem too coordinated.”
