Lucia
She sat in the new room—a very comfortable one within the council building. It was nice and plush, but she was not alone.
Connor’s footsteps echoed behind her, but she didn’t turn to face him.
"You didn’t tell her the truth," Connor’s voice was low, sharp. It cut through the stillness like a blade.
Lucia clenched her fists, her back still to him. She had known this confrontation was coming, but it didn’t make it any easier. "I couldn't. How do you want me to say it? What exactly do you want me to say?" she asked quietly, her voice strained.
"You’re even a bit more despicable than I thought. I thought you were all brightness and light, but here I am seeing a bit of darkness within." She raised her eyes to find his. "That’s how everything is, Connor. You, more than anyone, should know this."
"And I know," she said. "I know that it's bad."
"Then we should have said everything," Connor snapped, his frustration palpable. "Talia deserves to know what really happened down there."
