"I came across the boy in the library. I met my mate at the same time. She was with him. I didn’t know it was your son—I didn’t know it was Lucian. He looked different... a bit older, but most importantly, he looked as though he had been poisoned."
What? That was all Baron heard. His mind fixated on the words poisoned and your mate has been keeping my son?
"What is this? Some sort of sick joke?" Baron’s voice rose with fury. "While I’ve been mourning all this time, you’ve kept my son within your grasp?" His fists clenched, his rage threatening to spill over.
"I didn’t know!" Bane raised his hands defensively. "Neither did she. She found him in the den of a giant scorpion, and I fought that same scorpion myself, trying to find out where he came from. Neither of us knew. All I knew was that he was weak, poisoned. I had no choice but to tell our priests to feed him with the King’s serum—it was the only thing that could counter the venom."
"What?" Baron whispered, still reeling
