I washed myself multiple times, scrubbing fiercely to get the creature's blood and its stench off me. The process was grueling, especially with my hair. The kraken’s blood seemed to cling to everything, and of course, it was slimy. Some had even gotten into my mouth. I had a feeling I’d be having nightmares about it soon, right alongside my fears of losing my baby or getting kidnapped.
By the time I was done, I found Morgana sitting on my bed, swinging her legs, looking noticeably cleaner than I was. She even smelled better.
“How did you do that?” I asked.
“If you’re wondering why I’m cleaner, it’s because I used water to pull the blood off. Blood is 70% water, after all,” she said with a smile.
She turned to me, but her face soon fell. "I feel like I’m about to lose something… I don’t know what it is. It’s like a terrible decision is looming over me, waiting."
Without warning, she stood, her previous gloom replaced by a forced cheerfulness.
