“Tell you what,” Nyssa said, stepping closer. “You look like you could use someone to show you around, keep you out of trouble. I’m available, for a price.”
Avario smirked. “And what’s your price?”
Nyssa tilted her head, her eyes gleaming with amusement. “Depends on how much trouble you plan to get into.”
“I’ll manage on my own,” Avario said, turning to leave.
Nyssa called after him, “Suit yourself, stranger. But don’t say I didn’t warn you when things get rough.”
“I think I'll manage,” he said, brushing past her anyway. Behind him, she kept talking, but he paid her no mind. Without a meat skewer in his mouth, he turned to another stall and found something similar, though not nearly as delicious-smelling as the first. He approached it with varying degrees of regret, feeling a sudden dislike for that particular beastkin. After a few stalls of scarfing through meat, he caught sight of Nyssa again from the corner of his vision.
