"And here we are," she said, gesturing around her. "Could I receive a thank you for coming to your assistance?" she asked, causing me to raise my eyebrows and then frown.
"Thank you for what?" I wanted to ask, but I knew better than to try. Aside from the emotional blackmail she might give me, I simply wasn’t in the mood for that kind of struggle, so I simply shrugged. "Thank you," I forced out, not wanting to start some strange fight between us. With Cressida, things could get strained, and I didn’t want to risk it.
I looked back into the book and finally found the page with my name written in large lettering. The handwriting, I noticed, was rather pretty. It was either important to Melissandra, or she had a beautiful script. I spent nearly a minute admiring the text.
"It’s lovely, I must say," Cressida remarked beside me. "But we don’t have all day to be admiring fonts. I thought you were here to check for something, not to see how beautifully written your name is."
