Chapter 14: Filthy omega

"Filthy omega!"
I opened my eyes and jolted from the bed, taking deep breaths. The hand on my chest steadied my breathing.
"Not again," I whispered to myself and tried to get up from the threadbare cot the crone had gifted me.
"Bad dream?" she asked, clicking her thin, wrinkled lips.
"Yes," I responded.
"It's sunrise," she noted, nodding her head towards the window. "The best time to pick up some herbs. I have a list if you want. And while you're at it, try and see if you can get a fish."
She handed me a scrunched-up piece of paper. I could barely read anything. I wanted to say something, but instead, I pulled out my phone from where I had hidden it and tried to turn it on.
"We don't use that around here. I suggest you throw it away," she waved at me and left my room.
"Perfect," I muttered as I pulled myself up and checked on my wounds. "It worked," I said, smiling to myself, seeing that the wound had practically healed and left nothing but a small scar.
