Chapter Fourteen
The shock of finding out that I had a fated mate hadn't worn out yet. Killian and I sat silently on the king-sized bed. He looked at me, occasionally holding my hand, letting it go after he didn't get a response from me.
I didn't know a lot about fated mates. Only that on your sixteenth birthday, like magic, you'd feel your soul being drawn towards your mate. Killian was my fated mate. The Alpha king who had walked this planter for centuries was my fated mate. The one that I would be forever bonded to.
"Genesis, please say something," Killian spoke, his voice contorted with worry.
"How do you know?" I asked, how did he know? How could he feel the pull and yet I can't? A mate bond was supposed to be electrifying, even magical. with Killian, it wasn't there. There was a strong attraction. Yes, my body craved him, my wolf desired him, even though I felt that we were an odd couple. But I did care for him with a tenderness that I'd only reserved for my mate.
