Chapter 19: It Didn't Work on Her

Sandra could see through David's mind. He was truly a hypocrite. "Mr. Martin, why don't you come with me and settle the bill? It saves me the trouble of going to pay at the store," she suggested. David's heart sank. He didn't want to! But he could only follow Zachary in the Cooper Mansion. ... Zachary took David to settle the bill. Wesley and Sandra went to the main hall of the Cooper Mansion. Although Hailey and Debra knew that Wesley was fine, they weren't particularly surprised. Because Victor was still unconscious. If anything happens to him because of you, the Cooper family won't let you off." Sandra scoffed. "Before I came, Mr. Victor Cooper was already critically ill." Angela stubbornly argued, "He was recovering, but his condition worsened after you intervened." Sandra nodded, "You're right. I did intervene and woke your father up, but he couldn't have suddenly slipped into a coma for no reason today. Why don't you tell us what happened?" Angela's face stiffened. Suddenly, Sandra chuckled. "How about I take a guess?" She took a step forward, staring coldly at Angela. "It must be because of Mr. Cooper's car accident, right?" Angela cleared her throat awkwardly, her expression giving away her guilt. Debra knew Angela best. It was clear that Angela was feeling guilty about something. Could it be... Debra's expression turned sour, but she didn't say anything. Sandra continued, "Before the car accident, Mr. Cooper and I were shopping together. How could there be a problem with the car? Unless... someone messed with it?" Angela tensed up. "How would I know?!" Sandra sneered, "You don't know? But your father slipped into a coma because of this." Angela was speechless. "Your father passed out because he was upset." Sandra said firmly. Angela didn't believe it, of course. "My father passed out because he was heartbroken over Wesley's accident. Stop pretending! You don't have any medical skills! You're just seeking attention!" Sandra looked at her with sympathy. "You're still deceiving yourself, you poor thing." She sighed. "Mr. Victor Cooper used to be powerful and influential, dominating the entire Geniston. "So, do you really think he wouldn't see through the conspiracy behind this car accident? "Mr. Cooper has been in a vegetative state for years, and Mr. Victor Cooper knows he's not doing well. "So, even if he knew about Mr. Cooper's car accident, his emotions wouldn't be disturbed too much." Everyone fell silent. In fact, over the years, they had been prepared to hold a funeral at any time. Victor was fine at first, but after Wesley became a vegetable, his health deteriorated rapidly. How come the severe car accident didn't kill them both?! Debra pulled Angela away and looked at Sandra. "There was a police report about the accident. We've seen it, and it was indeed an accident." She spoke, her face filled with compassion. "Sandra, I know you've been wronged, but rest assured, I will thoroughly investigate this matter and find the culprit soon." "But..." Debra asked pleadingly. "Victor is your father-in-law. Are you really going to turn a blind eye to that?"
