Chapter 46: A Contest
Compared to the grand entrances of others, Elena looked like an ugly duckling. All eyes were on her, filled with disdain and contempt.
But Elena didn’t care. She simply picked up some food, intending to sit down and eat.
Suddenly, a haughty voice came from behind her.
“Elena, how could you wear such shameful clothes? Do you have no sense of decency? You’re a disgrace!”
Elena turned around to see Susan and Bernice standing there, with a group of finely dressed girls behind them. Clearly, they were part of the same clique.
Bernice looked at Elena with a face full of 'concern.' “Yes, Elena, today isn’t just any ordinary day. Dressing so... plainly isn’t quite appropriate. After all, you’re Roy’s fiancée now.”
As soon as Bernice said this, everyone’s eyes turned to Elena, filled with even more disdain.
“So, she’s the one engaged to Mr. Hill? Dressed so cheaply, how could someone like her be worthy of him?”
“Exactly, showing up to a party dressed like that—no class at all.”
