Chapter 25: Standing Up for Her
After a prolonged silence, Susan suddenly burst into tears. "Cousin Roy, how can you defend her like this? What kind of sister-in-law is she? I don’t acknowledge her! You don’t even want to marry her, so why are you helping her hit me?"
"I'm going to tell my parents!"
Roy remained expressionless as he stood there. "If you’re so upset, go ahead and pull up the surveillance footage," he said calmly.
The butler, standing nearby, nodded immediately upon hearing Roy's order.
Susan froze, instinctively glancing at Bernice for support.
Bernice, equally flustered, quickly tried to defuse the situation. "Roy, maybe we should let the surveillance issue go. After all, Elena is someone Grandpa Hill cares about. No matter what, we should respect his wishes."
"My bracelet is broken, and while I miss my grandmother dearly, nothing can bring her back," Bernice added, attempting to lead Susan away by her arm. "Let’s just leave."
