Chapter 21: The Man’s Attitude Toward Her Changed
After having dinner with Eddie, Elena returned to the Campbell villa to pack her things.
"What are you doing?" Mary asked, noticing Elena's actions, clearly puzzled.
"The exams are coming up, and to prepare for Princeton, I’m planning to move out," Elena replied.
"You're moving out? Have you found a place?"
"Yes, I have."
"Where? What kind of place? How much per month?" Mary quickly asked, worried that Elena might be wasting money.
Elena picked up on Mary's concern. "Don’t worry, it’s not as expensive as the place Anna had when she moved out."
Mary's heart skipped a beat. When Anna moved out, her place cost over twenty thousand dollars a month. From Elena’s tone, it sounded like her place would be slightly cheaper—but still likely around ten thousand dollars.
"Why rent something so expensive? You just need a quiet place, right?"
"I’ll find something!" Mary said as she began searching on her phone. "Look at this—only $800 a month, and it even has a private bathroom."
