CHAPTER 109 Facing the Truth
Ethan's phone rang loudly, jolting him out of a restless sleep. Groggy and disoriented, he fumbled for the device on the nightstand, his heart racing at the late hour. With trembling hands, he answered the call, his voice thick with sleep.
"Hello?" he mumbled, rubbing his eyes to clear away the fog of sleep.
The voice on the other end was urgent, frantic even. "Is this Ethan Johnson?" it asked, cutting through the silence like a knife.
Ethan's heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name, his stomach churning with unease. "Yes, this is Ethan. Who's calling?"
"I'm calling from St. Mary's Hospital," the voice replied, the urgency in their tone sending a chill down Ethan's spine. "Your wife, Natalie Johnson, has been rushed to the emergency room. You need to come here right away."
Panic surged through Ethan like a tidal wave, his mind racing with a thousand terrifying possibilities. "What happened? Is she okay?" he demanded, his voice rising with each word.
