Chapter 11
Zayne only needed to knock twice before the door was opened.
The person who opened the door was a shapely old woman wearing a light green silk dress with elegant patterns all over it. Her white hair was pulled up in a bun, and although she was getting along in years, it was obvious at a glance that she carried herself with extraordinary grace.
"Have you come alone again?" asked Zayne's grandmother, Natasha Turner.
Zayne's frame was hiding Enrica from view, so Natasha could only see Zayne by his lonesome. She instantly lost her enthusiasm and said with disdain, "If you're still single the next time you come back, then don't even bother coming to see me. My affections are wasted on you."
Zayne hurriedly turned aside, grabbed Enrica's hand, and pulled her forward. "This is my wife, Grandma."
Strangely, Enrica felt as if she could hear a hint of bragging in his voice, and it caused her original nervousness at having to meet his grandmother disappear without a trace.
