MADISON'S POV
I was in the grand drawing room of the Harrington estate. The sweet fragrance of aged oak mixed with that of the freshly cut lilies mingled in the air. Chandeliers above led a soft glow onto the inlaid, polished mahogany table on which Ethan was sitting, tapping his fingers while he stared at nothing particular.
Michael was pacing near the fireplace, taut and restless, while I sat still, my fingers curled around the delicate porcelain of my teacup. I dug my nails into the fine china as Ethan finally broke the silence.
"She said 'sister-in-law'." There wasn't a trace of inflection in his voice, but I caught the implication of suspicion. "Aria Ravenwood said she was supporting her sister-in-law's brand. And yet she went to Golden K."
Michael snorted loudly, doing a tight spin on his heel. "You think she meant Kimberly?" His laughter came sharp and incredulous. "No way. Xavier Ravenwood wouldn't even look at her."
