Chapter 37 Night Mares
Olivia's POV
Damien laid me gently on the bed, concern etched across his face. I shivered, the chill in my bones refusing to relent. "You're burning up, Olivia," he murmured, his hand brushing against my forehead. "I'll get you some water."
I managed a weak smile, the effort causing me to cough. "Thanks, Damien. I appreciate it." The room blurred as he moved away, fetching a glass from the bedside table.
He returned, holding the glass to my lips. "Sip slowly," he advised, his voice soothing. I complied, the cool water providing a momentary reprieve from the fever that had taken hold of me. Damien settled beside me, concern knitting his brows together.
"Damien," I rasped, gripping his hand as he attempted to rise from the bed. "Don't go, please. Stay with me."
He hesitated, his eyes reflecting the internal struggle. "Olivia, I should let you rest. I'll be right outside if you need anything."
"Please," I pleaded, my grip tightening. "I don't want to be alone right now."
