I watched as Rose scoffed, utterly unfazed by the anger dripping from Nick's voice. If anything, her defiance only seemed to grow, her eyes flashing with a challenge, her hands firmly planted on her hips like a seasoned fighter ready for battle. What was her problem? Even if I was a slave, storming into a pack doctor's house uninvited and creating havoc was disrespectful. Surely, there had to be some penalty for that—at least, that’s how things worked in my old pack. I wasn’t sure about here, though.
"It seems you’ve forgotten your place, Rose… so soon?" Nick’s voice cut through the air, each word deliberate and sharp as he stepped further into the room. He seemed taller somehow, more imposing than I remembered from earlier. The warmth and humor that usually softened his features had vanished, replaced by a stern expression that radiated fury. If I were Rose, I would have been trembling by now.
But Rose wasn’t like me. She met Nick’s gaze without flinching, the sneer still on her lip
