Chapter 222: A Moment of Reckoning
After Dedari left, the atmosphere in the tent grew thick with an uneasy silence. Prest and Rich shifted their attention to Jacob, who simply shrugged, as if to dispel the tension, and settled himself on one of the stools scattered around the tent. His eyes, however, remained fixed on Zande.
Under Jacob's intense gaze, Zande fidgeted, her discomfort palpable as she inched closer to Amia. Amia, noticing the interaction, let out a soft snicker before turning to leave the tent, likely to satisfy her hunger. But before she could slip away, Prest called out to her, his voice firm.
"Where do you think you're going without me?" Prest's brows furrowed as he moved toward her with purpose. "Have you forgotten our agreement? You don’t go anywhere without me. No matter the circumstance. If you're hungry, feed from me. I'll hunt later," he said, offering his neck to her without hesitation.
