Caitlin quickened her pace, trying to keep up with Zendedari’s increasingly hurried strides. "I don’t believe it’s him, Zen," she said, her breath catching slightly as they moved through the darkened forest. "I recognized something in you, even when you appeared to be a monster. I saw beyond the surface. I think I’d know if Barry was truly the evil I feel stalking us. This... it’s different. It *hates*."
Zendedari glanced down at her, his expression unreadable but his tone firm. "It was the call of our souls to one another that you recognized, Caitlin. We are lifemates, connected even when apart."
