Layla went to the dining room when she was ready, leaving Lexi in the suite.
She fed Derek his meal, and she ate her breakfast too.
The atmosphere felt more comfortable with Canaan's absence.
She hadn't been able to eat well nor breathe the previous night.
And when he had kissed her–Layla moved her hand absentmindedly to her lips.
Her lips tingled when her hand brushed them, remembering the feel of Canaan's touch.
And the heat of his mouth.
Layla closed her eyes briefly. Her chest suddenly felt tight.
"Don't think about him," Layla hisses at herself, stabbing her food with vengeance.
"Excuse me?" The butler asked.
Layla watched him, her eyes flashing.
She hadn't known when he walked in.
"I'm sorry. Did you need something?" Layla asked, straightening her back.
"Master told me to relay this message to you. You have an appointment to have lunch with him today."
