Chapter Sixty Two: Shifts in Dynamics
Mark paused before covering the distance between them. "I should have seen this coming.'
"Neither of us did." Canaan moved away from the window and walked to his desk table.
He sat on the chair and laced his fingers over the table.
"What got into her?" Canaan frowned.
"She's an attention-seeker," Mark answered. "But she should have known better. This is a work environment. Thank God there had been few witnesses to that embarrassing moment. The witnesses know her, so they won't mind." Mark shrugged.
"Is this her way of telling me she's upset with me for avoiding her?"
"It doesn't make sense. She should have emulate Layla. She goes on a hunger strike to lure you out." Mark tweaked a finger at Canaan. "That's the best way to throw a tantrum. Nobody gets hurt except the one making the demands."
Canaan raised one eyebrow at Mark, lifting a corner of his mouth.
"Yes." Mark nodded, defending his notion. "She embarrassed us out there and made a fool of herself. That was just plain stup
