Chapter Forty Nine: Still Searching
Sam shuffled the papers he had printed about Layla's disappearance.
He planned on distributing those later in the evening after he closed from work.
Since the time he left his parents's home that night, he hadn't returned.
"You know," his roomie and his friend, whom he lived with after he left his parents' house, Joe, began. "You've been searching for this babe over a year now. There's a high chance that she doesn't want to be found or she's dead somewhere."
"No missing person wants to remain unfound, and Layla isn't dead. I know she's alive."
"But she wants to keep her identity hidden. Don't call attention to her."
"I'm not. My parents are looking for her as I am. They can't find her first. I need to get her to safety before they find her."
"I'm sure she's doing well wherever she is. Stop being obsessed about that babe, Sam, and live your own life."
"I'm not obsessed about her."
"You love her."
Sam's nose flared, and he growled at Joe. "She's my sister."
