Chapter Forty Four: Brunch
Akila raised her head when she heard the door to the cellar creak open.
A man stepped in, and unlocked the chains around her.
"You're free to go now," the man said.
Akila rolled her eyes and sat up from the chair. Her bones cracked from sitting in the same position for two days.
She flexed her wrists and rolled her hips.
"Let's leave. There's no time for that."
"You don't expect me to sit again after sitting over that number of hours."
"You must have gotten accustomed to being bound."
"You will." Akila hissed. "Can I meet with Layla before I leave?"
"She had asked for the two of you to meet prior to your request. You two will be having brunch together before you are taken back to your pack."
"Don't tell me you starve her as you did to me too. She's a nursing mother," Akila said, disapproval lacing her tone.
"We didn't starve you. You refused to eat, and no, she was well-fed."
"Was?"
