Chapter Fourteen: Awed
Akila fussed over Layla on the day she would be meeting with the Blue Moon pack's Alpha.
The two had woken up early in the morning, and Layla had helped prepare breakfast.
Although Akila would rather Layla still lazied in her house, Layla felt she couldn't sit idly now that she had fully regained her health.
She wasn't used to sitting idly when she lived with her immediate family. Now that she had found a friendly benefactor, she couldn't depend on her for so long.
She was no princess to be pampered.
Akila was excessively doting on Layla.
"The makeup is unnecessary." Layla raised a hand to stop her when Akila attempted to powder her face.
Akila paused, holding the powder brush an inch away from Layla's cheekbone.
"Sure. A natural beauty is a good idea."
Layla frowned, looking up to face Akila with an amused expression on her face. "You're acting as if you're trying to marry me off to your Alpha."
