“I swear on my life, I will rip you apart!” I avowed and he laughed hysterically.
“Remember when we used to train?” He said and I was instantly hit with a strong sense of nostalgia.
“You used to let me win,” I said.
“Those were the good old times, weren't they?” He smiled and another tear trickled from my eye. “This time, I won’t let you win, Maddox. This battle is real and only one of us will survive. I’m sure you already know who the winner is.”
“I won’t lose,” I asserted and he scoffed. He signaled to his guards to leave us and they quickly obeyed.
“I am not the Hunter you used to know, Mad. I will kill you without breaking a sweat.”
I scoffed. “Neither am I the Maddox you used to know. I’m no longer the brother you used to shelter. I’ve grown past your shadow.”
